Semiconductors Market in Japan in Decline

However, recent news has shown that the first quarter in the 2019 fiscal year for the semiconductor market as a whole has declines very aggressively. This decline is set to be the lowers reach value in numbers since the past 35 years. These statistics were released by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization which shows a decline in sales for over 15.5% which was a decrease from $114.7B to $96.8B.

The president and CEO of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) trade group, John Neuffer commented on the results of the study saying, “Sales in March decreased on a year-to-year basis across all major regional markets and semiconductor product categories, consistent with the cyclical trend the global market has experienced recently.”

Furthermore, more results report that sales have fell a total of 1.8% compared to the previous month and a total of 13% compared to the beginning of 2019.

IC Insights which is a group of analysts commented on the results saying, “The first quarter is usually the weakest quarter of the year for the IC market, averaging a sequential decline of 2.1 % over the past 36 years.”
